The Parks Audio Budgie is a highly regarded moving-magnet phono preamplifier designed by Shannon Parks. Built around a pure Class-A valve signal path with passive RIAA equalisation, it offers a warm, open and engaging presentation that pairs particularly well with quality MM cartridges.
Top-mounted loading switches make it easy to fine-tune cartridge capacitance without opening the unit, while its use of readily replaceable 6DJ8/6922 valves allows for tube rolling to tailor the sound to your system and preferences.
The original Budgie is now discontinued, partly because the specific valves used in production became increasingly difficult to source. Parks Audio has since moved toward DSP-based designs, making the all-analogue, all-valve Budgie an increasingly sought-after piece of phono equipment.
